On April 5 2015 the Clan Colquhoun International Society will be hosting Highland raiders re-enactment at Luss Loch Lomond. In the mid 17th century, the King used his Scottish subjects as part of the army to oppose the English Parliament. Still separate countries, England and Scotland shared the same king, and this invasion of England by 'foreign' troops led to conflict between the two factions and the invasion of Scotland by the Parliamentarian forces. Highlanders formed part of the Royalist forces whilst many other Scots just wanted to get on with life, but war touches all sectors of society. The living history group depicting camp life for families of soldiers will be erecting their camp on the Highland Games field at Luss where visitors can see and learn how life was at that time. The re-enactment groups will be involved in skirmishes involving Pikes as well as broad swords and muskets and cannon. Among those taking part are foot soldiers, Highlanders and Colquhoun's Artillery with their cannon...............
