Stone Mountain - A Great Success

This years 42nd Stone Mountain Highland Games played host to over 50 Colquhouns and Septs as well as its distinguished guest, Clan Chief, Sir Malcolm Colquhoun.

Many of our clan cousins traveled from near and far to attend this annual gathering and meet Sir Malcolm including Owen (son of Orval Calhoun) and Marilyn Calhoun, who traveled an impressive 920 miles from their home in Canada.

The clan hosted one of the most outstanding tents at the event. As well as Sir Malcolm and Lady Colquhoun, our cousins were greeted by a whole host of special attendees including CCIS President Patrick Calhoun and his wife Julie, Tom and Sharron Hodges, Jim and Becky Kilpatrick, Beth Calhoun and Stephen Batts, Sherrill and Barry Greene, Owen & Marilyn Alastair Colquhoun, Andy and Meilree Calhoun and Executive Director of CCIS Michael Lloyd-Stern.

This was followed by a spectacular VIP dinner hosted by Sir Malcolm and Lady Colquhoun in which many Colquhouns and septs socialized with old and new acquaintances and met Sir Malcolm personally.

At the dinner, Owen Calhoun, presented historical booklets to Sir Malcolm which will be housed in the Clan Museum in Loch Lomond. Former North American Society President, Jim Kilpatrick and Tom Hodges, where each presented with a specially inscribed targe from by Sir Malcolm, for services to the Clan.

On the final day all clan gathered for the parade. Over 50 Colquhouns and septs marched onto the field to the sounds of bagpipes, led by Clan Chief Sir Malcolm.

I would like to thank all that were able to attendance for making it such a tremendous event and look forward to seeing you again. To those of you that missed out on this occasion, we hope you'll be able to join us next year.
